Temple Hill

When you start the game the computer will move you to the 'Temple Hill'. This is a very important place in the game, because if you die you must go to the temple and 'pray' so that you will come back to life! But the temple hill is not the temple. To enter the temple you must 'Enter the circle of stones.' The temple is inside the circle of large stones. When you die you become a ghost. All the money and the things you are carrying stay on your body (or 'corpse') and if you want to get them back you must first go to the temple as a ghost and type 'pray'. You will become alive again. Then you can go back and get your money. But remember, the monster that killed you will still be there waiting, so maybe you should take a strong friend with you! If the monster is too strong he may kill you again and so you may have to give up your money and the things you carried. As a ghost you cannot do anything in the game except move around, so you should quickly go back to the temple and pray. Just north of the temple hill is an Insurance agent (see below) who can sell you insurance to help you if you die. Inside the circle of stones is Alviar the druid whose job is to keep the temple strong. He has a number of quests for you to find objects for him.

Shops The shops are very important. Here you can buy things like weapons and armour to help you fight. You can also sell things in the shop and this is the way to get more money. If you find something, or you take it from a monster that you killed, you can take it to the shop and sell it. To sell things you are using as equipment you must unequip them first. To see how to use the shops enter 'Read the sign' when you are in a shop.
Guild The main guild is south of Darren's shop in the center of the Costello village. There are some other guilds in the game but they are quite hard to find. You must go to the guild when you want to raise your level or your abilities. The guild is the only place you can get stronger in Costello! In the guild you will find lists of quests, spells and skills which you can read to get more information. For example, to read the list of quests enter: 'Read the list of quests'. You will also find Andrew, who you can ask more more information about the quests. To see how much money and experience points it will cost you to go up a level you can enter 'Cost'.
Healer In the Wizard Tower on the first floor is Alana the healer who can heal you if you are injured in battle. The first time she will heal you for free but after that she will charge some money.
Bank If you die and don't have insurance, you lose all of your money and the things you are carrying. You can keep your money and your weapons and armour safe by keeping them in the bank. To see how to use the bank you can 'read the sign' in the bank.
Post Office In the post office you can send mail to other Costello players, even when they are not playing the game at the same time as you. When they enter the game they will get a message telling them that they have new mail. Read the sign in the post office to see how to use it.
Insurance Agent Wesley the insurance agent sells insurance policies to help you when you die. When you die in Costello you must return to the Costello temple to pray. A basic policy will automatically bring you back to the temple when you die. This can help you when you are a long way from the temple. When you die you also lose all of your money and items. A premium policy will return you to the temple and also get back all of your items for you. It is a very good idea to buy a premium policy even though it is rather expensive. For new players (levels 1-3) you can buy a premium policy for free so this is one of the first things you should do when you start the game! Each policy only works once so if you die and use your policy then you must buy another one.
Butcher Jeff the butcher buys monster corpses from you and cuts them up into delicious steaks. If you also buy a barbecue set from him you can cook the meat to make a delicious meal. This is much cheaper than buying food from pubs and bars. Type 'info barbecue set' to see how to use it.
Inns/Pubs In Costello's Inns and Pubs you can buy food and drink. If you don't eat and drink in Costello your character will become weaker and weaker and may die!
